Stefanie Cortez began her nonprofit career in 2018 as a volunteer for Every Shelter working to help
people who are displaced find a sense of home. She attended Baylor University and earned her
Bachelor of Mathematics degree from Baylor University which has not helped in her grant writing and
business development roles she has taken on at Every Shelter and Emergency Tarp. But her
experience as a Texan and work in the humanitarian aid industry gives her a deep passion and
understanding for those who survive natural disasters. Seeing destructive forces like tornadoes and
hurricanes and having access to some billboard materials, Every Shelter created a program to
address the needs of disaster survivors: stronger, longer lasting tarps. The best part? We help
disaster victims, refugees, and displaced communities all while keeping vinyl out of landfills and
giving single use billboards a second life.
