A creative and strategic marketing executive with deep industry relationships, Julie Thompson is well known in the advertising world for her trusted counsel and collaborative approaches. In her role as EVP & Chief Marketing Officer at the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA), Julie plays a crucial part in promoting the trade group and elevating out of home (OOH) advertising’s place in the marketing mix. Steering a dynamic marketing and outreach strategy for OAAA, she helps drive its visibility and champions the industry at large. Julie works with member companies, agencies, and brands to showcase OOH’s strengths, its creative canvases, and its ever-growing influence in driving consumer buying decisions.

Prior to joining OAAA, Julie founded juliethompsoninc, a successful technology and media advisory firm focused on advancing leading digital platforms, innovative startups, and industry trade groups. For nearly 20 years she leveraged her deep knowledge of the media, tech and creative spaces supporting over two dozen organizations including IAB, 4A’s, IAA, Yahoo, PopSugar, Turner Broadcasting, Tumblr, TED, WebMD, The Weather Company, AdAge, ShareThis, Stagwell and others. Earlier in her career she held senior communications roles at Fallon, Leo Burnett Worldwide, Fox & Thompson and Ruder Finn.

Julie believes strongly in elevating emerging talent, increasing diversity, and advancing women in the workforce. She is a founding member of The Female Quotient’s equality initiative, a founder of IAB Women Visionaries, and has served as an advisor to several nonprofit organizations.
