Schmerin joined United in 2017 as a company spokeswoman and head of consumer PR. As Chief Advertising Officer at United Airlines, she leads a team of bold marketers whose remit is global marketing across TV, streaming, audio, out-of-home, print, digital, social media, and emerging platforms. The carrier’s renewed focus on brand and advertising resulted in recognition for United in Ad Age’s Top Ten Marketers of the Year and Fast Company’s Brands That Matter. In 2023, Schmerin’s contributions to marketing and advertising saw her named to the Adweek 50 and Ad Age Leading Women.

Schmerin was previously senior vice president at Edelman, the world’s largest communications consultancy, where she spent time in a variety of roles in offices across the US, UK and Canada working with global brands including Kellogg’s, Mars, P&G, Samsung, LVMH and Heineken. A self-proclaimed ‘bleisure’ travel aficionado, she is energized by the people she meets and places she sees, bringing these stories to life in her everyday work. She is a proud native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University.
